imagine a couple A and B. Both are your friends so when it is their happy birthday day, you are expected to buy "A" a gift and "B" a gift.

awww...totally valid point. Maybe you should make it clear that one-person-mutiple-gifts are accepted, but two-people-one-gift is absolutely not done!
